Christian Character

We see student behavioral issues as the opportunity to help students develop Christian character and to learn to be self-governing.

• We believe that God created emotions to enhance the richness of life and to confirm the reality of faith in Christ. Lakewood provides opportunities for students to express and evaluate their emotional responses to life.

• We seek to help students understand that their decisions and actions must be guided by a heart that makes God-honoring choices rather than coming from self-focused emotional reactions. This requires regular, personal Bible study and prayer.

• Lakewood promotes a model from Peacemaker Ministries called “The Young Peacemaker” as part of a program we call A.C.T.S.

A	Accept each other as created by God for a purpose Accept one another just as Christ accepted you Romans 15:7
C	Care for each other, building one another up Encourage one another and build each other up I Thessalonians 5:11
T	Treat each other with love as Jesus loves us. My command is "Love each other as I have loved you” John 15:12
S	Serve each other as an important part of the body of Christ The whole body grows as each part does its work Ephesians 4:16
• We believe that moral standards and values presented in the Bible are the best preparations a student can have for fulfilling his or her responsibilities as a member of our democratic society. • We encourage students to handle responsibilities properly, influencing them to display consistent Christian maturity as they work in teams or independently
