Who attends Lakewood?
Approximately 600 students that come from communities all over northeast Indiana, southern Michigan and western Ohio, enroll at Lakewood; they represent over 100 churches.

Is the school accredited?
We are accredited by the Indiana Department of Education through the Freeway Schools program, the North Central Association of Schools, and the Association of Christian Schools International. This accreditation requires regular program reviews and ensures continuing quality.
What sports are offered at Lakewood?
Our school is a member of IHSAA with varsity teams in golf, volleyball, soccer, basketball, baseball, and softball. Many of these sports are also available to 5th – 8th graders. We compete in the Midwest Athletic Conference, and against public, private, and other Christian schools.

Will attending Lakewood help students with college attendance?
Yes. Each year at least 90% of graduating seniors go on to attend accredited colleges/universities, or other education programs. The majority of our graduating seniors receive some type of college
scholarship with some graduates receiving academic scholarships covering full college tuition, plus room and board.
Do you have a hot lunch program?
Yes, we offer hot lunch or salad bar including milk or juice for $2.40 per day. Milk or juice for those who pack lunch is 35¢. The 3th – 12th graders may also purchase a variety of a la carte items including deli sandwiches, individual pizzas, and snack foods.
How long is the school day?
The school day begins at 7:50 a.m. for all students and ends at 3:00 p.m. for Pre-K through 3rd , at 3:10 for 4th – 5th graders, and 3:20 for secondary students. Students may arrive as early as 7:15 a.m. (9:15 a.m. when school is delayed). Students remaining past 3:20 p.m. are signed into after-school care.
Is child care provided after school?
The Lakewood Park Early Learning Ministry runs an after-school program in the dining room called Beyond the Bell. It is open from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. The cost is $2 for any part of an hour and includes a snack at 4:00 p.m. Pre-K students attending morning or afternoon classes can have lunch; child care is available by Lakewood staff for any part of the morning or afternoon opposite their regular class. Is transportation available?
There is no bus service provided, but many families choose to carpool. Family directories are available to make arrangements.
What is the dress code at Lakewood?
The Student Handbook gives guidelines for modest and appropriate dress. Jeans and sweatshirts or T-shirts are the usual mode of dress.
What about fine arts offerings?
Drama and choir activities are available at all grades. Our concert bands begin performing in 5th grade and the secondary school presents an annual play or musical. What curriculum do you use?
Our curriculum includes traditional subjects taught from a biblical perspective. We use a variety of publishers including A Beka, Bob Jones, ACSI, Standard Publishing, Saxon math, Prentice Hall, Houghton Mifflin, and others. How is the school governed?
The school superintendent and administrative team establish and oversee procedure for implementing school policies. The elementary principal, secondary principal, and athletic director serve on the administrative team at Lakewood. A nine-member school board sets policy for the school. The school superintendent serves on the church pastoral staff and answers to both the school board and the senior pastor. The Lakewood Park Baptist Church elder board is ultimately responsible for the school board with the senior pastor acting as the liaison between the two boards. Read more...
