Academics

At Lakewood Park, the teachers teach all subjects with excellence in order to develop a love of learning in students that will fully challenge their God-given abilities.

In 2 Timothy 2, the Apostle Paul calls us to be “In Christ to Instruct.” He describes three unmistakable movements for this to unfold in our lives. First, we must Learn to Teach. Second, we must get the Word into our Words. Third, we must connect Heart to Heart. This represents the academic experience at Lakewood Park Christian School. Teachers, administrators, and families all work together in community to achieve the same vision: shaping difference makers in Christ.

Teachers instill a desire for excellence in the skills and academic disciplines required for higher education and future employment.
    .
The ISTEP ECA (End Course Assesment) is given to our 10th graders every year and 89 – 100% of the students pass both the English and math tests.
    .
Each year at least 90% of graduating seniors go on to attend accredited colleges/universities, or other education programs.
    .
Students can earn two different diplomas for those with varying abilities and aspirations—Core 40 or Core 40+ Honors.

Lakewood Park works with several area colleges to provide AP and dual-credit classes. AP or dual-credit classes add .05 per semester to the students overall GPA, for up to 20 semesters of dual-credit or AP classes.
    .
Many students often test out of many college classes saving time and money because of superior English and math skills.

Juniors and Seniors are given the opportunity to visit several colleges as part of the high school program.

Rosetta Stone is offered to all students (first–twelfth grade) who would like to pursue a foreign language. It also fulfills graduation requirements for students in 9th–12th grades.
    .
The Pre-K through 2nd grade classes offer a strong phonics-based reading program producing proficient and enthusiastic readers.

Pre-K is a half-day, five-day-per-week program, with child care available for the other half of the day.

Kindergarten is a full-day program meeting five days per week.

NWEA is now used to test early elementary students in order to map areas where students excel or need improvement.
