3rd Grade

Third grade is a year of learning more independence as students begin taking more tests in academic subjects and learning valuable study skills. Music, games, videos, trade books, projects, and community guests are integrated in the academic subjects to enhance the curriculum. Students meet weekly for a chapel service which includes singing, mission stories, Bible lessons and object lessons to encourage them spiritually. An offering is taken each week for a missions project. Our goal is to not only teach the academic subjects, but to challenge them spiritually in their walk with Christ.

Field Trips

Field trips to the fire station, Sauder Village in Archbold, Ohio, and to an area bank to view Civil War memorabilia are taken to give students the opportunity to experience hands on learning.

3rd Grade Teachers

  Mrs. Teri Krafft
I graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Education from Indiana University and completed my Master of Science in Education from Indiana University in 1989. An Indiana Professional Teaching License for general elementary, with a minor in reading, and Lifetime Certification from the Association of Christian Schools International are currently held.

Eleven years of my teaching career, from 1986-1997, were at MSD of Steuben County in grades 1, 2, and 3. I joined the staff at Lakewood Park in 1997 and enjoy teaching third grade.

My family and I attend County Line Church of God where I have served on the Christian Education Board, taught vacation Bible school and Sunday school, and served in the nursery. Currently, I serve on the Children’s Ministry Team and teach during Kid’s Time Worship.

Teaching at Lakewood Park is rewarding because biblical truth is integrated in all aspects of school life and students and staff can speak openly and freely about their personal relationship with Christ. The knowledge gained from Lakewood Park can then be used to impact our community and world with the good news of Jesus and His redeeming love.

  Miss Beth Emelander
I began teaching third grade at Lakewood Park in 2002. I received my degree in elementary education at Grace College and am currently working on my Master's degree through Indiana Wesleyan University. In my spare time I enjoy teaching Sunday school and teaching Good News Clubs with Child Evangelism Fellowship. What I enjoy most about being at LPCS is the opportunity I have to daily disciple children in God’s Word.
