Frequently Asked Questions

Q. MY CHILD RARELY EATS A HOT LUNCH. AM I REQUIRED TO PUT MONEY IN OUR FAMILY ACCOUNT?
It is not required, but strongly suggested that each family put at least $2.50 per child in the account to start. Since we don’t allow students to charge food, that $2.50 acts as a safety net if the student forgets a packed lunch.

Q. MY STUDENT HAS UNUSED LUNCHES ON A LUNCH CARD / ALA CARTE CARD. HOW DO I GET THOSE CREDITS APPLIED TO THE NEW LUNCH ACCOUNT?
To receive credit for an unused lunch card or ala carte card, simply put the unused card in an envelope marked “LUNCH MONEY”, clearly mark your family’s name and the amount on the outside of the envelope and turn it into the school office. Your family account will be credited.

Q. MY ELEMENTARY STUDENT HAS CREDITS FROM A LUNCH THAT WAS PAID FOR AND NEVER USED. WHAT HAPPENS TO THE CREDITS?
All unused elementary credits will be automatically transferred to your family’s lunch account. If a credit was applied, a notification will be sent home with the student on Friday, April 29.

Q. HOW DO I ORDER LUNCH FOR MY ELEMENTARY STUDENT?
It is no longer necessary to pre-order lunch for elementary students. Each morning the elementary teachers will take a lunch count from the students. If your student needs to buy a hot lunch, please make sure they are aware and ready to tell their teacher at the appropriate time.

Q. MY STUDENT PACKS A LUNCH BUT BUYS MILK EACH DAY. DO WE STILL NEED TO USE THE LUNCH ACCOUNT?
Yes! All purchases made in the cafeteria – milk, hot lunch or ala carte items will be done through the lunch account.

Q. WHAT HAPPENS TO UNUSED CREDITS WHEN THE SCHOOL YEAR ENDS?
Families that are re-enrolled for the 2011-12 school year will retain their credits. Graduating or transferring students will receive a refund by check on or before June 30, 2011. If the family has other outstanding charges (library fines, etc.) credits will be applied to those first before issuing a refund.

Q. CAN I SET LIMITS TO MY CHILD’S SPENDING?
Yes! The system is set to default to a maximum daily spending limit of $5.00 for each student. If you wish to have a different amount set, please send an email to lunch@lakewoodpark.org and the change will be made to your student’s ID. It is possible to set different spending limits for different children in the same family.

Q. WHAT IF MY CHILD FORGETS THEIR PIN?
Mrs. Teresa Brooker or Mrs. Jennie Leichty will be able to help your student in that situation.

Q. IS THERE A WAY TO CHECK MY FAMILY’S LUNCH ACCOUNT BALANCE?
Yes! Please use the lunch program link found on the school website to access family lunch account information. You will be able to see the current balance and recent purchases.

Q. IS IT POSSIBLE TO SEE WHAT EACH OF MY CHILDREN IS PURCHASING FOR LUNCH?
Yes! To see a history of the spending activity in your family’s account, simply go to www.lakewoodpark.org, click on the lunch program link and enter your family ID.

Q. HOW WILL I KNOW WHEN MY FAMILY ACCOUNT BALANCE IS GETTING LOW?
You will be notified by email when your family account balance is $10.00 or less.
