And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:19
Many of us wonder in times of financial challenges if the needs that we have will be met. I am once again reminded that through faith, God can and will provide for our needs as He has in the past. This year our Annual Fund goal was $40,000 and I am pleased to report that we received approximately $39,300. Praise the Lord for this great progress. I am confident that additional gifts will bring us up and over our budget need. Additional money beyond the budget need will go to offset some other expenses including classroom carpeting and software replacement. Thank you for continually supporting the mission of Christian education.
Pre-Kindergarten Update - Mrs. Rose
We are excited about the new year. We learned so much in 2009 and look forward to growing and learning in 2010. In our Bible class we have learned a lot about being loving and kind as we saw Jesus do that in so many ways. We want to learn to be like Him. In phonics we have learned to put letters, sounds, and blends and consonants together to make words. We are now reading short vowel words! In numbers we are learning to count up to 30 right now, but Mrs. Rose told us that we will learn to count all the way to 100! We love art and had fun creating snowmen from our handprint. We hope all of you have a great new year! We know we are going to!
As we embark on a new year and look forward to all God will allow to come into our lives this year, I'm reminded of a quote I read, "No one can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending." Many New year resolutions were made as the 2010 year began. Many will be broken. How we end this year will be determined by how we started it. May our hearts be turned to have a deeper commitment, love, and worship for Him. May we not focus on whether the New Year resolutions do or do not get accomplished but rather on having a deeper commitment, love and worship for Him.
Open House Contest
Our annual Open House is scheduled for Feb. 18th. One of the best ways to
promote our school is through referrals from current families. When a family comes to the Open House, they are asked to complete an information sheet that includes how they heard about Lakewood Park. If a family that you have invited to the Open House, or just shared your experiences at Lakewood Park with puts your name down as the family they heard from you will automatically be entered into a drawing for a $100 tuition credit in addition to the $250 tuition credit that you get if the student enrolls! The $100 credit is yours to keep whether they enroll or not. Only one name will be chosen, however you can enter as many times as you would like. So start sharing your story today!
Rhapsody in Art
The Fine Arts Department is proud to present "Rhapsody in Art", a concert and dinner-in-the-round, on Friday evening, February 12, at 6:30 p.m., in the Worship Center. Come and enjoy a wonderful four course dinner as well as a concert featuring vocal, instrumental, dramatic, artistic and dance selections. Tickets are $15 per person and will be available for sale at the school office before and after school as well as on Sundays between services in the cafe. Seating is limited, so purchase your tickets soon! (Sunday dress is requested.)
The Music Man
Save the dates March 11-13, 2010, and plan to come to this year’s spring musical, The Music Man, featuring Nick Jensen as Harold Hill and Madison Troyer as Marian Paroo. In addition to this, any parent or alumnus of Lakewood is welcome to be a part of the pit orchestra/band during the performances. The band, led by TJ Faur, would begin practices sometime in February. Any parents or alumni interested in being in this part of the production should contact Linda Barber through the school office or leave a message at ext. 302.
Mini-Cheer Camp
The Lakewood Park Mini-Cheer Camp will be held Saturday, February 6th, for any girl grade 1-6th.
