Cooperation - by Tom Leitner, 4th Grade Teacher
This past month in math class, the students worked together in groups to save themselves from “shark infested waters” (4th) and created games that students would be able to play during free time (5th). Both of these exercises were used to build an understanding and appreciation for cooperation, our theme for the month in Chapel. Miss Longbrake shared with the students the story of Nehemiah repairing the walls of Jerusalem. Nehemiah had to work with many other individuals to get the job done all the while relying on God to help him face and overcome opposition.  The students experienced similar difficulties in working together to save themselves from the sharks and creating a game that most students would find fun.  Everyday, the students have the opportunity to show a spirit of cooperation in working with others in our community of learners.  In Ecclesiastes 4 we see this same spirit of cooperation. God’s Word encourages us to work together and get along with one another.

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work; If one falls down, his friend can help him up, But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!”
                   -  Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

High School Science Update - Dr. Lynn Mafera
God created a microscopic world as diverse and complex as the world we can see.  Biology students investigated this world and built (then ate!) replicas of cells.  They also distinguished how the structure of human tissue cells fits perfectly with the function God designed these cells to perform.

Students in health class realized the importance of nutrition and exercise to good health, and planned meals and fitness programs to fit their individual preferences and schedules.

Human Anatomy and Physiology students performed a lab demonstrating the movement of the body’s joints as levers. As each body system is studied, students are reminded how interdependent each system is on the other systems.
