“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches
in glory by Christ Jesus.” –– Philippians 4:19
About a month ago there was an article written for the newsletter asking for help for our final school wide fundraiser of the year, our annual Golf Marathon. We had lost about 20 golfers due to families moving, students graduating, etc. Between the economy and having 20 fewer golfers, our donations were down considerably. The question was asked many times “What are we going to do?”. I tried to confidently say each time, “God will provide”. With each week that went on, and the closer we came to our deadline and with still very little in pledges coming in, the phrase “God will provide” took a few seconds longer each time to say with confidence. My faith was still present, but not screaming loudly anymore, but instead it was more of a quiet whisper saying “God will provide”. On Monday, May 10th God showed us exactly how big He is once again. To date, our Golf Marathon has raised $54,885!! Praise the LORD!
We would like to thank everyone for their part in making this happen. We know that God provided the gifts, but it was through our families that He did. Thank you for those that sponsored, those that golfed, and those that supported the event through prayer. God has met this need and put the school in great financial shape to end the year!

Art at Lakewood
With adding a second high school art class period this school year it has doubled the amount of high school students who chose to take their hand in art. Once we broke through the “I can’t really do art” stage, everyone has really blossomed! It has been gratifying to see students find their art niche, whether it is drawing, working with clay or even carving plaster.
The middle school art classes go by so fast with only nine weeks, it is sometimes difficult to get those creative juices to come out, not to mention flow. But they are getting a good taste of a variety of art that is hopefully encouraging many of these students to continue to pursue creating more art in the future at the high school level.
One of my favorite parts of doing elementary art is being able to see students grow throughout the year, every year all the way through 5th grade. The students are becoming more creative and really grasping art as something more than simply coloring and making pictures.
Each year I try to get as much exposure for student artwork as possible. We had 5 pieces of high school artwork in the Saint Francis art show and 3 high school and 4 middle school pieces were entered into the Scholastic Art and Writing competition. And for the first time in LPCS history one of our student’s artwork won an award! 8th grader Hannah Priskorn’s painting “Blazing Sunset” won a “Certificate of Merit” award which is quite an honor. So many of your children are hard working, creative, and excited to try new things, and as an art teacher that makes my job a lot of fun!

THANK YOU!
The Girl Scouts & Brownie Troops that meet here at Lakewood Park would like to thank all those who bought Girl Scout Cookies this season. With the earnings that our troop made from cookie sales, we have sent $435.00 through Samaritans Purse to aid in the Haiti Relief efforts. We donated money to be put towards shelter, survival kits and water purification. We also are going to donate some money to the local food bank to help close to home as well as abroad. Thanks for your support.
